Placing an Incorrigible Child in Care<\/h4>\n

Parents of problem children tried to uphold family honour at the same time as they sought help from charitable institutions. In the case of Albert Denis, the Recorder and the reformatory appear to have supplanted paternal authority with a view to punishing and disciplining him while also protecting his brothers and sisters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deux jeunes d\u00e9tenues s\u2019\u00e9chappent du Bon Pasteur<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Vers sept heures et demi, hier soir, deux d\u00e9tenues du Bon pasteur, rue Sherbrooke, se sont \u00e9chapp\u00e9es de cette institution en ouvrant, \u00e0 l\u2019aide de ciseaux, une porte adonnant dans la rue Fortier. La police a aussit\u00f4t \u00e9t\u00e9 inform\u00e9e, et \u00e0 8 heures, un petit gar\u00e7on est entr\u00e9 au bureau de police central et a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 au capitaine Beatie, que deux jeunes filles s\u2019\u00e9taient r\u00e9fugi\u00e9es \u00e0 la demeure de ses parents, dans la ruelle Fortification.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019officier de police s\u2019est rendu sur les lieux, et a op\u00e9r\u00e9 l\u2019arrestation des d\u00e9serteuses, qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 conduites au bureau central o\u00f9 elles ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 se nommer Alexina Lec et Mathilda Lachance. Ce matin, les deux amies ont \u00e9t\u00e9 reconduites au Bon Pasteur o\u00f9 elles seront punies d\u2019apr\u00e8s les r\u00e8glements de l\u2019institution.<\/span><\/p>\n
